to replace and expand the exiting carriage museum in lisbon, witch is allrerady the most visited museum in portugal, hsting the most complete collection of carriages in the world, the portuguese government invited paulo mendes da rocha (pritzker prize) to develop a new project in the touristic and cultural area of belem.
bak gordon studio had the privilege to be associated with mr mendes da rocha to develop the project, which construction is about to finish.
the articulation of the volumes between them and together with the environment, towards the construction of an extraordinary public space, is its most striking feature.
